Germany lost their first match against Japan and are out of World Cup if they lose this game and Japan gets a point. They played very well in the first half of their game against Japan and they could’ve been up two goals at half. Germany also looked good defensively in the first half. They looked like they had full control in the second half but they started to struggle defensively and Neuer had to make some big saves. That didn’t help because Japan scored two goals in the last 15 minutes of the match.
Still, Germany played a very good match and deserved a win but now they can’t afford to lose against Spain.
Spain won very easily against Costa Rica which was expected. The match ended 7-0 and Unai Simón didn’t even need to make one save. I don’t like this Spain team much and don’t think they have a chance to win the World Cup. They were very effective against Costa Rica and scored seven goals on seven shots on target. It was a very bad match from Keylor Navas.
Spain has achieved the highest point in the group E as well as over all the group. She is almost qualified for the round of 16:
